Here you can get an idea of the different ability levels. The videos show you what your child should already be able to do to be ready for the level in question.

K6 - BEGINNER
(first time skier)

Goal:

Straight descent (Schuss) / snow plouw / turns / stopping with snow plouw / using t-bar.

K5 - ADVANCED BEGINNER
(stopping on call and turns in easy terrain)

Goal:

Reduction of the use of the snow plouw technique up to parallel skiing / changing directions at controlled speeds in easy terrain / using lifts.

K4 - INTERMEDIATE
(beginning parallel turns in easy terrain - snow plouw in steeper terrain)

Goal:

Parallel skiing in every terrain with long and short radii (carving) / controlling the skis with harmonious movements.

K3 - ADVANCED
(parallel turns also in steep terrain)

Goal:

Perfecting parallel control on steeper slopes / controlling the skis using their edges and shape / rhythmical descent with short and long radii / dynamic change of direction.

K2 - EXPERT
(carving with short radii and dynamic change of rhythm)

Goal:

Rhythmical descent with short and long radii / dynamic change of direction / mogul slope.

K1 - MASTERLEVEL
(solid skiing technique in high speed and difficult terrain)

Goal:

Refining and automation of skiing techniques / sporty-dynamic descent on slopes of all gradients / mogul slope / slalom / freestyle.

The following basic rules apply at every instruction level:

  • Technique used to change of direction (kind of turn) and pace are appropriate for the situation and ability level.

  • Choice of terrain is based on skiing ability of the ski school guests.

  • Change of radius, speed, rhythm and terrain in accordance with skills.

  • Special technique exercises improve balance, turns, steering, alpine skiing and the coordination of movements.

BEGINNERS

Objective: Learn skiing technique up to basic-level carving.

Snowploughing / turning / lift use / vertical skiing / sliding – first runs with change of direction at a controlled speed on easy terrain; use of sliding and steering for speed control.

ON-PISTE SKIING

Objective: to improve skiing technique up to parallel turns.

Parallel skiing / carving / flexion and extension – transition from snowploughing to parallel turns with long radii (carving); situation-appropriate use of the various techniques with long and short radii; parallel turns with smooth movement flows.

OFF-PISTE SKIING

Objective: to improve skiing technique on and off the piste.

Carving / rhythmic skiing / conduct on alpine terrain – steering using the edges and the shaped ski (long and short radii); rhythmic skiing with short radii; dynamic change of direction and skiing on steep terrain; rhythmic deep-snow skiing; off-piste skiing in line with the level of ability and the situation; use of avalanche transceivers.

MASTER LEVEL

Objective: to improve and internalise skiing techniques, ski tours.

Athletic, dynamic on-piste skiing / introduction to mogul fields / proper behaviour on alpine terrain / off-piste skiing – dynamic on-piste skiing at high speed, mastering the various turns and situation-appropriate use, including under difficult conditions; use of avalanche transceivers; demanding off-piste skiing and skiing tours (with ascents); good fitness level required.
